According to Esther Larrañaga, Counsellor of the Department of Environment and Land Planning, this year's data (2006) verify what was proved by 2005 indicators, which represent three trends: firstly, the consolidation of the environmental quality improvement in most environments; secondly, the fact that the growth of environmental problems is slightly lower than the growth of economy itself; and thirdly, in spite of all that, the current model of production and consumption does not correspond to the sustainability horizon towards which we want to walk.
